We have both old and new pieces. The gemstones in newer
pieces come from Afghanistan. Most
of the jewelry were assembled in Peshawar by Pakistanis and Afghanis, many of
whom are refugees. Often the women do this work at home.
The older pieces we have come from Waziristan which is located
in south-eastern Pakistan along the border with Afghanistan. The women
usually make this colorful jewelry.
