Shar Agha goes through the marketplace in Peshawar
carefully selecting each piece. The gemstones in
the newer
pieces come from Afghanistan. The newer pieces were assembled in Peshawar
by Afghan women, most of whom are refugees, working from their homes Afghanis.
The older pieces we have come from Waziristan which is located
in south-western Pakistan along the border with Afghanistan. The women
usually make this colorful jewelry.
