Cleaning your
carpet
- For general cleaning: vacuum regularly.
- For a more thorough cleaning:
-
if possible, place carpet pile side down on a clean surface in the sun and
let it sit a few hours.
-
after this beat the carpet. The best way to beat it is to hang it on a pipe
or line; if this is not possible, beat it on ground but lift it carefully
to avoid dragging the carpet through the dirt that has fallen out.
-
replace and vacuum the top side.
For Spills
- If the spill is on the edge of the carpet, use the open
side of a glass and push hard towards the border which brings the liquid of
the carpet. The liquid will spill onto the floor. If the liquid is in the
middle of the carpet, use the glass to scoop up as much liquid as possible.
- After doing this, use a clean white cotton cloth or
towel to blot the surface.
